It works on desktop, tablet, and mobile—so you can get critical production updates from Dramatify wherever you are: on set, in the office, or on the move. Integrating Dramatify and Slack means you’ll always know what’s happening in real time, without needing to log in to check notifications.

How to Join Your Team’s Slack Workspace and Channels
If your production team or company on Dramatify uses Slack, here is how you can join and start receiving updates.
Step 1: Get an Invitation
- You need to be invited to your company’s Slack workspace.
- Ask your production manager, team leader, or Slack administrator to send you an invitation.
- You will receive an email with the subject line like “You’ve been invited to join [Company Name] on Slack.”
Step 2: Accept the Invitation
Open the email and click the Join Now or Get Started button.
You will be asked to:
- Create a Slack account (unless you already have one).
- Set your name and password.
- You will now be logged in to your company’s Slack workspace.
You can also download the Slack app for your desktop or phone, or use it in your web browser.
Step 3: Join the Right Channels
Slack channels are like chat rooms for specific projects or topics.
Option 1: Join a Public Channel
- Click on “+” next to Channels in the left sidebar.
- Select Browse channels.
- Find the channel name related to your production and click Join.
Option 2: Accept an Invitation to a Private Channel
- Some channels are private — you can only join if someone adds you.
- If a team member invites you, you’ll see the private channel appear automatically in your channel list.
- If not, ask your channel admin or production manager to add you.
💡 If you’re unsure which channel to join, ask your team leader or check your production instructions in Dramatify.
Now you’re connected! You’ll see updates from Dramatify directly in the Slack channel and can chat with your team about the production.
How to Set Up Slack for Dramatify
To start using Slack with Dramatify, follow these steps:
1. Create a Slack account
If your team is not already using Slack, go to slack.com and create a free account.
When you create an account, you’ll set up a workspace for your company, and then you must create a public channel, meaning that anyone you have invited to your Slack workspace can join. We recommend keeping this first channel as a general channel for your organisation.
Already a Slack user?
If you are already using Slack in your organisation, create a public channel to integrate with Dramatify.
2. Install Slack for your company in Dramatify
In Dramatify, only users with Admin rights can add the Slack integration.
- Go to your Company account, then click Settings.
- Scroll to Integrations.
- Click Install Dramatify’s Slack App and follow the instructions to connect your Slack workspace to Dramatify
You will be able to send a test message from Dramatify that should appear in your new Slack channel. If no message appears, please double-check that you have set your Slack channel to Public (with a # sign before the name). See below for instructions on how to change visibility.
Add a Slack channel for each production
You can add a channel for each project or production to more easily steer who sees what. Project channels can be private and you invite exactly who should see updates. (See below for set-up details).
Once the Slack integration is connected as described in the section above, in Slack:
- Start by adding a new channel to Slack for your production and name it accordingly.
- In Slack, click on the channel and open channel details.
- At the very bottom of the popup, copy the Channel ID.
Switch to Dramatify, and:
- Go to your Project page in Dramatify.
- Click on Settings in the orange toolbar.
- Scroll down to Integrations and click the Add Slack Channel button.
- Follow the instructions and enter or paste the channel name and the channel ID before saving channel info.
💡 You can have a separate Slack channel for each production to keep updates organised.
Setting up a PRIVATE channel
If you want to keep your production channel private and select who to invite, you must add a step to the setup procedure above:
- Start by adding a new channel to Slack for your production and name it accordingly.
- 👉 In the new channel post the following: @dramatify 👈
- In Slack, click on the channel and open channel details.
- At the very bottom of the popup, copy the Channel ID.
then follow the same instructions as above in Dramatify.
Control who can see your Slack channels
In Dramatify, Updates are filtered based on the access rights of each individual user; however, Dramatify sends all updates to Slack.
You can therefore choose who should see the updates by selecting if a Slack channel should be:
- Public – anyone in your Slack workspace can join
- Private – only invited members can see and access the channel
This allows you to control who receives the updates. You can change this access level at any time. Note that the first channel you create for the Dramatify integration, which we recommend as a general channel, must be public for the integration to work.
